Children’s Mental Health Week is celebrated from 3rd February – 9th February, with the aim of empowering and giving voice to children in the UK. This year’s theme is ‘know yourself, grow yourself’.
Studies have found that reading can increase ‘mental resilience’ to anxiety and anxious feelings and that those who read for pleasure are less likely to experience feelings of depression.
As part of this initiative, Reading Well have issued a new book list to support children's and teenager’s health and wellbeing, with titles chosen and endorsed by health experts and those living with the conditions and topics covered.
You can find copies of all the recommended books at Southend Libraries. To browse the catalogue please visit: https://southend.spydus.co.uk
